Wearing workout clothing for non- work out purposes has been just about every girl's guilty pleasure, and quite frankly, is the easiest thing to slip on in the morning. Being forced out of bed, AND having to put on a pair of jeans? Forget about it.

There is a chic alternative to your yoga pants and sweat tank: dance wear. More specifically, Yalivta. A minimalist approach to items coveted by dancers, Yalvita offers pieces that can easily be taken from the gym (or studio) to every day life. A neutral palette allows for a smooth transition into any girl's closet.

What is Yalivta? Derived from "You live to...", this company is more than just about the clothing. A lifestyle brand, Yalivta inspires individuals to dream big, live big and dance big; all while wearing their beautiful and luxurious pieces.

I may not be a dancer, but I do appreciate a good chunky knit. And the open back? That's just the icing on the cake. Shop my look and check out other items and their blog here.

Blanket Chic & Cosmic Earrings

Oversized sweaters are the absolute best this time of year. Not only do you feel like you're wearing your blanket in public, you can look chic doing it. The high slits and detailing on the arms give some shape to this otherwise baggy sweater, and pairing it with white ripped jeans and high heeled booties gives some depth and height. It's easy to look frumpy with oversized sweaters, so my advice is to pair them with skinny pants or leggings, and if you plan on wearing baggier pants with them (like I did here) always add some heels to elongate you.

With sweaters like these, I like to keep my jewelry minimal. I'm a huge fan of rings and earrings, and these cosmic earrings from Foxy Originals add the perfect finishing touch. They have tons of fabulous jewelry that is all hand-made right here in Toronto. Check them out here, you won't be disappointed. 😉

Sequins & Feathers

You can never go wrong with a blouse and skirt, and with the holidays around it's perfectly acceptable to add in some flare. And by flare, I mean sequins and fringe feathers. This feathery skirt is the perfect alternative to a plain black pencil skirt and the blue/gold blouse adds in an unexpected finish. I got this skirt at Winners, but I found its twins at Sam Edelman and H&M. I've linked the items down below. Happy shopping!

We The North

Can you believe Christmas is in 18 days? I need to get through this week of exams and actually start my Christmas shopping before any of the fun stuff begins. Last year this time, I basically had all my gifts lined up and ready to go. Sigh.

For today's post, I played up my all black look (oh how surprising... I'm wearing black) with two things us Canadians clearly cannot live without: a winter hat (it even says Canada!!) and Roots socks (because Canadian winters right?). Get yourself these two essentials and a nice steaming cup of Tim Hortons (though I prefer good old Starbucks shh...) and you're ready to jump on your moose and head home to your Igloo. Kidding. Sort of.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but Bluenotes is seriously the best place ever to pick up winter accessories. From scarves to hats and gloves, their reasonable prices and cute designs are a huge yes in my books. And they keep you super warm!!! 🙂

White, Black & Red All Over

About a month ago, a few Toronto bloggers and I attended a VIP party hosted by PAX Vapor and the Weeknd. It was a held at Nomad, a chic little boutique on Queen St. West in Toronto. I thought I would edge up my look a little by mixing black and white, and adding in a kick with red heels.

Walking down the streets, we came across a red wall and an impromptu photo shoot was a must. We also came across another boutique that just so happened be called VB, which in this case was short for Varsity Brown and not Veronica Beran. 😉

I've included photos from the event down below. 🙂

And a BTS for some added humour... you see end result, but you what you don't see is the ridiculous things (and double chins) you gotta go through to get the perfect photo. 😉

All Tied Up

The leaves are falling off the trees and winter is right around the corner, crazy how time flies. My favourite colour combo for the upcoming cold months is most definitely grey and black, and with this outfit you can easily throw on a pair of tights once the temps drop. I'm a huge, huge fan of hats... you don't have to do anything to your hair AND you look chic while doing it. It's a win- win.

A cardigan and dress is a timeless look, and I actually changed it up a little by tying up my otherwise simple and longer sweater. If I were to let it hang loose, I would accessorize with a necklace or a scarf. It's the perfect little weekend outfit for when you want to look put together, without the worry of being overdressed.

Pleather Elbows & Plaid Skirts

Flared skirts and baggy sweaters are currently one of my favourite combos.  Not only do they look effortlessly cool, there is also absolutely no need for sucking in. 😉 (Hello all-you-can-eat)

I've had this sweater for a couple seasons now, and it's been one of my go-to's come colder weather. I bought it a size up for it to hang baggier on purpose, and come on... these pleather elbow pads?! Obsessed. Pairing this sweater with a plaid skirt in the same colour tones and strappy heels added some feminine and elongating flair to the overall look.

Autumn Boho

We've been having some amazing fall weather (up until these past few days) which has allowed for a  minimal need for jackets and boho flare to be perfectly acceptable. I always associate flowy, hippie-esque styles with summertime, but you can easily transition these pieces into milder temperatures.

An off-the-shoulder peasant blouse in a darker colour, paired with skinny jeans and fringe shoes has fall bohemian written all over it. Suede, fringe and anything camel have been some sizzling styles for this season (I guess 2/3 in this look ain't so bad) and I wouldn't be surprised if they make a permanent home in every girl's closet. Camel is the perfect warm neutral to keep around, plus it really makes your eye colour pop.

The Essential Fall Outfit

This look is the epitome of fall fashion in an outfit. The fur vest, leggings and brown boots... all I'm missing is a Starbucks cup. 😉 As basic as it is, I do believe it's one of the most practical and comfiest outfits for this season, and the fur vest can easily be dressed up or down. This time, I paired my fur vest with a ruffled blouse for a chic day look.

These photos were taken on another family outing at Port Credit, a very scenic marina and park outside of Toronto. It's one of my favourite places in the entire world, and I guarantee you can find me there at least once a week, if not more.

Fallen Leaves

When it comes to grey, the possibilities are endless. Having so many shades to choose from, I thought it would be a good idea to mix several different greys together, and add some black to break it up. As long as you play up the textures and accents, having the same colour palette can actually be chic, without having you look like a walking crayon.

Come fall, beanies are an absolute must in my books. I have a fairly large head, so it can get tricky finding one that fits the way it's supposed. I discovered this perfect beanie in an oatmeal colour last year at Bluenotes, and was so mad at myself for not getting more (they sold out so quick!). This year rolled around, and I am now a proud owner of five more beanies than last season. Hey, when you really love something... buy it in every colour?

Leather & Camel

"I'll be ready in five minutes! (Phrase) I'm doing my hair and still have to choose my outfit."

Story of my life. I always end up waiting until the absolute last minute to get ready, and then start rushing like a lunatic at the end. Does anyone else procrastinate like this?

This camel colour instantly makes people look tanner, and combined with a leather jacket, it's the perfect pairing for the fall. With this weather we've been having, it's easy to pull off a short skirt and no tights without having to amputate your legs. It's supposedly going to stay pretty mild throughout the colder weather months and be the warmest winter Toronto has seen in eighteen years. I don't mind me a little snow, but hey if this fall weather decides to stay throughout the winter months, I most definitely will not be complaining.

In The Nude

Whenever I wear these leggings in public, people almost always do a double take, which quickly turns into a confused expression on their faces. Yes, I am wearing pants the same colour as my skin. Yes, I actually am wearing pants... But to be honest, it's very entertaining watching them.

These bottoms are a fun alternative to a plain black legging, and a great layering piece with blouses and oversized sweaters. They also look awesome on with some knee high boots. For this look, I paired my nude leggings with a classic white blouse, a black duster coat and snakeskin sneakers. It's put together and super comfy.

Distillery District

VBDSC07506 (1)

My family loves to just go out, walk around, grab a bite to eat and of course enjoy each other's company. It's nice to get some fresh air and enjoy the weather while we still can. These photos were taken at the Distillery District from one of our usual outings. It was a casual, but beautiful day, so I decided to snap some photos. The dark tones in my outfit really pop against the various shades of red brick, but at the same time my Go Wood sunnies and lips compliment the all the tones found in the brick.

If you're ever in Toronto, I highly recommend visiting this place. It's so beautiful no matter the season. 🙂
