The first time I ever heard of Olivia Palermo was through “The City”, a spin- off of the “The Hills” (R.I.P to my favourite show of all time). The show was based on Whitney Port’s life in New York City, and Olivia was her workplace rival. I automatically associated with Olivia’s strong personality and her zero bullshit attitude towards life. Not to mention her incredible fashion sense… so it was a no- brainer to emulate her look.

Using Olivia’s outfit as a foundation, I put my own twist on the pieces. The palette is a simple black and white, with colour reflective sunglasses. I’m wearing a single button blazer over a polka dot blouse, both from Forever 21. On the bottom, I’m wearing a scuba mini from Urban Planet and heels from Nine West. I’ve accessorized with a clutch I bought in Europe last year and my mirrored lenses are from Aldo.

It was Ala who suggested the creative idea of shooting this look on the railroad. It’s a mix between old school house wife and modern day chick, and originally I had simple waves and a head wrap planned, but she also suggested the faux bob and red lips to complete the overall vibe.

This look is simple, yet so unique. The skirt was my focal point… I love the retro vibe of it, so I decided to base the rest of my pieces around it. I’ve had it for over a year now, and it’s by far one of my favourite pieces in my closet. One of my favourite movies, Grease, was the inspiration behind this look, and I can’t wait to do more looks inspired by it in the future.

Today is a good day… Why? Because it’s the first time mother nature is letting me wear these stunners without having to amputate all ten toes. I purchased these Steve Madden heels back in January, while vacationing in Miami. They’re the perfect neutral with the right amount of sparkle, and I can pair them with anything. I kept the rest of my look a casual black and white combo, and decided to throw in a statement necklace to compliment the shoes.

When in doubt wear black. We all have those days where nothing looks right, and you hate everything in your closet. When I’m having said day, I always go head-to-toe dark. Something about an all black look makes me feel instantly chicer.

Same goes for bad hair days. Tried everything in the books and still can’t get your hair to cooperate? Do not fret. Throw on a stylish little hat, and goodbye problems. Not a hat person? Slick your hair back into a sleek braid, bun, ponytail and no one will ever know you were this close to shaving your head earlier. 😉

This past Thursday I had the chance to check out the Twinfishlux event hosted in part with Conceptual Event Society at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal Hotel. Twinfishlux is a Toronto based online accessories boutique that carries a wide range of the chicest fashions from Kobo candles to Oscar De La Renta gems. I brought along my fellow blogger friend, Rita of Mademoiselle Roque to join in on the fun.

I picked up this little number from H&M’s Coachella Collection (in store) last week and I am in love. I have recently been digging the seventies vibe and this was the perfect thing to feed my appetite. My favourite part was definitely the fringed sleeves, which resulted in the endless swinging of arms on my part. And it just so happened that my outfit complimented the hotel’s decor so taking photos inside was necessary. 😉

This past week I’ve seen so many gorgeous red and pink outfits posted online. Not one to wear crazy colours often, I opted for the classic LBD and nude pumps, instead adding in my Valentine’s flare with hot pink lips and a beaded clutch. This classic sheath dress is the right amount of sexy with an added mesh panel around the midsection.

Let’s take a moment to talk about this clutch. Totally occasion appropriate with it’s hot pink vibe and “L” word design, you’ll be wearing the most romantic clutch on the most “romantic” night of the year.

On the topic of cliches, I usually opt out on the whole dinner and movie fuss, but this year it’s the opposite. We’re going full out cliche… I’m talking chocolates, teddy bears, candlelight dinner, and finishing off with a movie. The movie being 50 Shades of Grey, of course.

Hope you all have a fun, love filled weekend!

Summer sandals in freezing weather? Yes that sounds crazy, but paired with knee high socks (or any socks) makes it a little bit more tolerable. I recently scored this blazer at Forever 21 for only $12.00 and it’s already become a go- to piece for me. Think warm, oversized sweater… except chicer. It adds the right amount of a vintage feel, and really brings out the lightness of the shoes in contrast with the darker pieces.

Happy Holidays! It’s that time of year again… where you have 373829 party invites and a total of four outfits hanging in your closet. Don’t stress, I’ve got some solutions for you.

I’ve put together three basic holiday looks that you can totally make your own, and re-wear to all the festivities just by changing up the accessories or a few pieces from each look. Saving money and time? After all it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

1. The LBD. The little black dress is an easy solution for any celebration, any time of the year. Essentially, you can compare it to that of a blank canvas, styling it however you would like. The best part about an LBD is that you can wear it five days in a row, each styled differently, and no one would ever know… if you dare. 😉

2. The Blazer: A blazer adds an instant touch of sophistication, and really pulls a look together, especially when sticking to a classic black and white palette. This combination is the perfect way to bring some summer staples over (white shorts) into the winter season. Not feeling the shorts? You can easily swap them out for a skirt, pants or forgo bottoms all together and go for a dress and blazer combination instead.

3. The Plaid Flannel: What is seriously more festive this time of year than a red flannel? Sitting by a fire place, sipping on hot chocolate while watching Christmas movies in plaid. Perfection. This outfit is great for those days when you’re feeling more casual and going for comfort. You can still dress a flannel up by adding some statement pieces, a bold lip or wear a blazer over top like I did here.

Vintage Plum

Late Autumn is the perfect time to be rocking this darker shade of purple. Being such a luxe hue, it instantly adds class and sophistication to any outfit. For this particular look, I combined plum and black, but I also love the shade with greys and yellows.

I’m also sporting my grandma’s camisole and little clutch from the seventies. I’m a huge fan of mixing the old with the new, and I love the fact that these pieces are one of a kind and forever timeless.
