Combining lingerie inspired pieces, or actual lingerie itself, with the clothing hanging in your closet can be quite tasteful when done right. No, I’m not encouraging you to run around in a bra and unbuttoned cardigan per se, I’m talking more along the lines of slips, camisoles and a peek of a chic bandeau or bralette.

Sticking to a classic palette (think neutrals and monochromatic vibes) allows you to leave the house without the risk of looking like you unintentionally left the house… you know what I mean. No one wants to see your bright red lacy pieces in public, however, behind closed doors you’re free to wear whatever you want. Red included.

Avenue + Bistro Cafe served as the perfect backdrop for my all black look. The crisp white interior, combined with black detailing and marble everything provided for a complimentary setting to this subtle nineties inspired look. It really allowed the dark outfit to stand out against the stark white.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to visit the OREJEN Pop Up Shop in Toronto. The OREJEN Fashion Lab is like a marketplace for designers across the world, showing and selling designs, along with launching emerging and developing designers in the fashion industry.

The Pop Up Shop was located at 12 Ossington Avenue, and we decided to grab lattes down the street at Union before starting off the day. Shortly after, we headed over to the showroom. Various designers were displayed on mannequins across the room, and the clothing was hung on clean and organized racks, making it very easy to navigate through the different collections.

I instantly fell for two designers, Studio One Eighty Nine, designed by Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah and Aniimiism. Their unique prints were very catchy, and the fabric used was like heaven. I could have worn these pieces to sleep. The blue printed outfit is from Studio One Eighty Nine, and the silk top and linen pant combo is by Aniimiism. Tonya and company were all so helpful and gave me some great insight on ethical clothing and the various designers they carry. If OREJEN ever pops up in an area near you, I highly recommend you check them out. It’s like going to an art gallery… but better… you can try on the art. ūüėČ

Kate Spade is the epitome of all things classy and girly. Think colourful prints, lace, flared dresses and bows. I wouldn’t define my style as an influence of this brand necessarily, but I added in my own twist on what Kate Spade is all about.

Pairing high waisted trousers with a cropped lace top and duster coat, I kept the look classic with a hint of skin. Wearing my nude caged heels and cream Kate Spade bag brought life to the outfit, and broke up the otherwise all black look. (It helps I have a tan too!)

Switching out the cropped lace for a more solid top, or adding a camisole underneath instantly makes the outfit office appropriate. It’s a classic look where you can wear just about anywhere, and refresh with different accessories depending on where you’re headed.

Last week was a complete whirlwind… from school, to midterms, to work and of course Toronto Fashion Week, I’m still on the road to recovering my lost sleep and daily routine. But no complaining on my end! I’m back and I’ve got tons of looks I will be posting for you, including all the outfits I wore through out last week.

This look is the perfect thing to take you from day to night. Still appropriate enough for the office, but with the fitted skirt and the edgier shoes, you’ll be ready for happy hour in no time.

And nowhere to go…

Summertime consists of long days, longer nights and bright colours along with clean whites. Whether you’re out on the town or out for a casual stroll, a breezy tank and pair of shorts is the perfect staple for sunny days.

I paired my striped shorts from Brandy Melville and brightly coloured tank from Marshall’s with a crisp white blazer from Forever 21. Just recently getting my hands on this fab clutch, I instantly fell in love with the double sided saying. Adding in a neutral twist, I finished the look off with tan caged heels from BCBGeneration and black sunnies from Forever 21.

Today’s post is a special one… because it’s my birthday!¬†I was born on July 17, 1993 at approximately 7:19 pm. So yes, if you’re asking… I am feeling 22.

The theme of this shoot was all black, very edgy Carrie Bradshaw with a twist of Vogue. Adding in black, silver and gold balloons and the beautiful backgrounds of High Park in Toronto, it turned out better than I imagined. Shooting with balloons is actually a lot harder than it looks… at first I had no idea how to pose and what to do with the hand holding them.

I was super excited to wear this black tulle skirt from Forever 21. I bought it back in November, and to this day have never worn it. Guess I was just waiting for the right occasion and appropriate look to pull it off. I paired it with a low cut, crop top from Bebe and a black blazer from Forever 21, adding in a simple pair of peep toes from Nine West.

Jumpsuits are always a good idea…

That’s why I was beyond excited when eShakti reached out for an opportunity to collaborate with them. Upon checking out their website, I immediately fell in love with the retro vibe their pieces boast. And have I mentioned that¬†everything is customizable?!

Ever come across something that was too long or short, was sleeveless but wish it had sleeves? Well eShakti gives you the chance to fall completely in love with a piece of clothing. The sizes offered range from 0-36, with clothing that will surely appeal to all age groups. It really is a one-stop shop destination for your wardrobe.

I chose a classic black jumpsuit because, well I like black clothing and I like jumpsuits. I had the chance to change the neckline, add sleeves and remove pockets on a standard size, but I decided to keep it as is. However, if your proportions give you a difficult time, you can actually custom size the piece to fit you like a glove. Neat huh?!

This look is very business comes undone with a revealing crop top and high waist slit skirt, worn underneath a classic black blazer. The crop top is actually a second piece to a dress purchased from RW&CO. I accessorized with red high heels and red lipstick. I love the look of an all black outfit with just a touch of a vibrant colour to brighten it up.

I’m not really a marshmallow type of gal, but once I tried these… wow! I had a cup overflowing with these suckers. These handcrafted marshmallows are curtesy of I Love Puffy Love, a Toronto- based company specializing in gourmet marshmallows. There were three flavours to choose from at the event, plus an array of different toppings… but they have plenty more choices available on their website. It’s the perfect little treat for events, birthday parties and etc! Be sure to check them out here: www.ilovepuffylove.com

When I think Kate Spade, I associate the brand with feminine accents and bright colours. I wore an over sized blazer over a purple skater dress both from Forever 21. To finish off the Kate Spade-esque look, I paired my hot pink clutch from Costa Blanca with glittery Steve Madden heels.

The night was a success, and I want to thank Shine PR and the Kate Spade ladies for throwing together this beautiful event.

You feel best when you’re comfortable, and this outfit justifies that notion. An oversized top can look put together as long as the bottom half balances out the look. Whether you pair it with a fitted skirt, slim pants or even tucked in, you can easily make anything baggy look chic and fabulous.

I’ve paired an oversized sweater with a fitted black skirt, both from Zara. Since the look is pretty understated, an added neutral pop with shoes from Aldo¬†was necessary. The final accessory to finish off this look was with a bright red lip.
