I’m back with another “Coffee and a Treat” post and this time around I’ll be featuring Black Goat Cafe. It’s a cute little place right on Lakeshore in Etobicoke, around a fifteen minute drive from the heart of downtown and right beside Humber College.

Despite it’s size, the decor in the coffee shop is so cozy and chic. Think dark wood, exposed brick, boho chic cushions and Pinterest worthy wall decor. They’ve also got a selection of books to read from and smooth running wifi. Every time I go there, the baristas are so friendly and nice. It really does make the experience that much better.

The cafe has a selection of coffee made from fair trade and organic beans. It’s very strong and bitter (just the way I like it), and their cookies are on a whole other level. Black Goat Cafe sells baked goods, all made in house, ranging from muffins ($2.00) to scones (app. $2.00) to of course, the infamous cookies (app. $1.50) and many more goods. My favourite is the Oreo cheesecake cookie.

They’ve got some amazing sandwiches ($5.00) that are also made in house, other than the buns, which come from a nearby Portuguese bakery. Everything is $6.00 or under, so no budgets will be broken while indulging in yummy goods.

As you can tell, I’m slightly obsessed with this place. Not only is the location convenient (I go to school right beside), but I’m also very picky with my coffee and need it to actually taste like coffee… sorry Tim Hortons. They are open 7:00am- 7:00pm everyday, except on Sundays which is 9:00am- 3:00pm. The hours are pretty limited if you work a regular nine to five day, but it’s so worth the drive and your free time if you ever decide to go.

Final rating is 9.8 / 10

There is nothing more satisfying than waking up and drinking your first cup of coffee. Whether it’s in the privacy of your home, or surrounded by like-minded people at a coffee shop, it’s more about the ambiance of having a coffee and what it entails that I love than the actual coffee itself. Mind you, I love my coffee very much.

I’m a morning person, and like to get started on my daily to-do list at the crack of dawn if possible. Along with the satisfaction of having a cup of coffee, comes the satisfaction of crossing things off my to-do list. I won’t admit to how much I thrive off that. 😉

In this post, I’m talking about my new pieces from The Peach Box. Rings are my thing, and I was so excited to receive a matching ring and bracelet set from their Roman Empress Collection. The roman numerals and clean lines found on both make for classic pieces, and I can pair them with literally anything I own.  I usually go for silver jewelry, but decided to switch it up by getting a rose gold bracelet to match the watch I recently picked up from Reitmans.

I’ve decided to add an additional section to the blog called “Coffee and a Treat.” Here, you’ll be able to come along with me on all my food adventures- coffee included. Toronto has so much to offer in terms of places to eat, having cuisine options span from across the globe. We’re lucky to have such a diverse culture, with never ending options in terms of trying new menus.

I had a mid- afternoon coffee and tea date with a friend at Te Aro. Located on Queen Street East, the converted auto shop has a relaxed, laid back feel to it. I first came across this place a few years back by fluke, and fell in love with their coffee and treats. This time around I tried a white pear tea (no added sugar necessary) and chocolate chip and sea salt cookie. I’m coming back for the cookies and asking for the recipe next time because they are so damn good!

If you’re ever in the area, I would definitely recommend this place. It’s a hot spot on that side of town, so you might have to wait for a table to clear up if you’re looking to stay and enjoy your treats. We went there around 12:30 pm, and the place was packed. Other than that, I’ve got no complaints. 🙂

How dreamy is this cafe? I met up with fellow blogger, Melina of The Lady-Like Leopard for an afternoon of lattes and photo taking at this gorgeous place. These photos were taken at the Colette Grand Cafe located in the Thompson Hotel in Toronto.

The coffee is great and the desserts are sweet, but what makes Colette Grand Cafe special is the decor and ambiance of the place. Since it’s connected to the Thompson Hotel, it’s located in a very accessible area and has become a designated hot spot for fellow bloggers and fashionistas. It’s one of those cafes you go to for the experience and for a photo or two. 😉

With the freezing temperatures we’re currently experiencing, being outside is no fun unless you’re bundled up in an endless supply of layers. That is, unless you purchase a cozy sweater that does the job of said layers needed. This cropped little number is warmer than it looks, perfect for hanging inside and all you have to do is throw on a winter coat when heading out, and you’re good to go. No additional layers needed.
