Continuing with day four of the trip. Getting on the Hop On / Hop Off early in the day, we had the chance to go around Vancouver and learn a ton about the city’s history. I especially loved Stanley Park and the overall vibe of the city. We ended up in Granville Island for lunch and ice cream.
Every year, Vancouver hosts the Honda Celebration of Light. It’s a spectacular fireworks competition, in which countries around the world showcase their displays in tune to music. Yummy food, fun activities and fireworks on the beach? Sounds like my kind of fun. The day we were downtown happened to be the day Brazil was competing with their lights. I highly recommend going to watch them if you’re ever there around competition time.
Day five was Whistler Day! Whistler has been on my bucket list for quite some time. The drive through the British Columbia Highway 99, also known as the Sea-to-Sky Highway was absolutely stunning. Imagine being surrounded by huge mountains with snow peaks and never-ending greenery.
On the way up to Whistler we also made a little pit stop and visited Shannon Falls. Another scenic adventure, Shannon Falls is a provincial park in the middle of the woodlands, and has tons of cool paths and water falls to see.
Day Six was our last full day, so we decided to visit Victoria. Taking a ferry to the island, we again went on a Hop On / Hop Off and explored the entire island. It’s so beautiful! I could definitely see myself retiring someplace like this.
Day Seven… Home sweet home!
